chamonix freeride...
Chamonix is world famous for its off-piste terrain, a reputation that is rightly deserved. With the lift systems of Les Houches, Brèvent, Flégère, Grands Montets and Domaine de Balme (Le Tour/Vallorcine) within the valley allowing easy access to the fantastic off-piste and backcountry terrain. Chamonix really is a freeriders paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike.
You can experience such delights as the Vallée Blanche, the Aiguilles Rouges, the Pas de Chèvre and the Toule Glacier to name but a few options in the company of an IFMGA Guide with extensive local knowledge of the area. We can travel further away from the lift systems, using touring equipment to access day tours and glacier descents amidst the impressive, high mountains.
We are available all Winter for Ski and Snowboard Custom Guiding in the Chamonix area. This may be an off-piste day, a specific tour or mountain ascent as an objective.
vallée blanche...
The Vallée Blanche is high on the list of every skier’s or snowboarder’s visit to Chamonix in Winter. An ascent of the Aiguille du Midi Téléphérique takes us into the heart of the high mountains and it’s dramatic scenery. Accompanied by one of our guides, you will negotiate the impressive, breath-taking ridge from the Aiguille du Midi to the start of the descent. This superb itinerary, descending down the longest glacier in the Mont Blanc Massif (20 km long and dropping 2800 vertical metres to Chamonix depending on conditions) will be the highlight of your Winter holiday in Chamonix.
The Vallée Blanche is entirely off-piste, unmarked and unpatrolled. As such, the conditions can vary enormously and an ability to ski/board red runs confidently is recommended as a minimum. However, the most important thing is to have control over your skis or snowboard, no matter what your ability. Skiers should be able to side slip and kick turn, Snowboarders should be able to hold an edge (mainly left edge) for extended periods of riding, ride a flat board and take a pole for pushing on the flatter sections. We will plan on spending 4 to 6 hours depending upon conditions, route chosen and group ability.
We make custom trips from Christmas through to May, depending on mountain conditions.
