Igneous started with the concept of making the worlds fastest powder ski back in 1993 and have now been making beautiful handmade custom skis and snowboards for the last 20+ years. Keeping people safe in avalanche country through education, professional development, outreach, and research is the mission statement of the American Avalanche Association (A3). As a ‘Professional’ member, Simon holds the same values to provide fun, engaging avalanche education using A3 guidelines in relation to content and teaching standards. He currently delivers training modules to trainee/aspirant mountain guides and also to the general public in association with Avalanche Geeks.

Since 1965 the IFMGA has existed to promote a uniform professional training scheme amongst it’s members.  Many years of experience are required to be accepted as a candidate.  It then takes a minimum of three years to attain full membership of the IFMGA. This period covers practical training and assessment in Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, Alpine Mountaineering, Off Piste Skiing and Ski Mountaineering and theoretical examinations in associated subjects. The IFMGA qualification, recognised throughout the mountain world is your guarantee of professional training and competence in all aspects of mountaineering and client care.
